LJA inspecting some trees or maybe looking at a bird :)

I’m Lea Jane Aphrodite, a poet and performer living and writing in Germany.

My pronouns are she/her or it/its. I think it/its pronouns are cool as hell because they make me think of myself as closer to the rest of the world that is more-than-human. A humbling antidote to anthropocentrism I guess.

I like to think of myself as a bit of a Jane-of-all-Trades and have at least dabbled in many things such as performance art, stage acting & directing, dramatic readings, speeches, community organizing, proof reading, pretending to be sick for money (less sketchy than it sounds), radio, modeling, archaeology, mycology, taking apart old machines, leather working, counselling, Linux-ing, self-hosting, journalism, archive work, book binding, translating, street poetry, and more! I’m of the firm opinion that I can’t be a good poet if I only do poetry. You have to fill your life with things that make poems happen. And god knows I couldn’t stop writing poems, even if I wanted to.

Mycelialisms is a node in an ever-variable network of digital and physical hyphal threads. Things come here to mingle, to grow, to decay and be returned to healthy substrate. Here you can read essays, browse projects, poetry, and fiction by me and others whose work I really want to share! My favorite art is still the things my friends make :)

If you like reading my poetry and want to leave a tip and/or pick up a copy of my chapbooks, leave a comment on one of the pieces, or maybe even book me for a workshop, you can do all of those things here:

I use Email for many things because it’s one of the few online services that is still decentralized. If you send me a comment on a post, I will reply, format it, and post it under the entry manually. I love hearing from people!

I don’t believe in many of the fancy things that websites apparently need these days, so this site doesn’t have those. The fanciest thing I’ll ever implement here is a search bar (MAYBE). It was made with Hugo using the Notrack theme. The font in the header is Gossip by Deborah Khondanovich and I love it so much.
