Not a lot to say about this one except that it comes from the heart. I think this is one of those that I can see working very well as a song. Unfortunately my musical skill leaves a lot to be desired. To be fair, that also didn’t stop early Goats JD, so maybe I should just give it a shot. Very cool to read about some of JD’s poetic influences today. Czeslaw Milosz is great, but my favorite polish poet from the post-war years is Wislawa Szymborska. Give her a read!
My music recommendation for today is Solomon Revisited Revisited
Switchboard Anathema
There are letters in the mailbox
that want to hurt me.
There are letters in there that
want to see me suffer.
But they will never find me
where I’m going.
They will never find me.
There are calls in my phone
that want to frame me.
There are calls in there that
want to see me jailed.
But they will never reach me
where I’m going.
They will never reach me.
You take the letters
from the mailbox.
You take every phone.
You bring them
to the secret place
and we destroy
all the things
we pretend to own
And they’ll never find us,
they will never catch us.
