What I’m currently up to…

…Academically

  • My bachelor’s thesis focusing on translation studies: My main focus is on trying to systematize a way to incorporate pre-existing translations into new translations. To do this, I’m attempting to use a framework synthesized from Zen Buddhist approaches to language philosophy that assumes a source text as fundamentally empty, with the translation method mirroring strategies to gain enlightenment.

  • Scavenger Politics: A long form essay about flexible responses to an uncertain future.

  • Stranger Poetry Project: Since April 2025 I’ve been writing poetry for strangers at least once a month. I enjoy the way it brings me into contact with people and gives me glimpses into their lives. It also leads to some very vulnerable moments, which always makes me feel very honored. You can usually find me at the Erzählbühne Tübingen open mic night on the last Monday every month.

  • Poems for John Darnielle: A daily poem project where I respond to the song of the day from John Darnielle’s “This Year – A Book of Days”.

  • Morphoses: A long form prose/poetry project. A verse novel set in the near future where the borders between humans and the rest of the natural world begin to blur, taking heavy inspiration from Ovid’s Metamorphoses.

  • Typewriter restoration: I never planned on owning four typewriters and fixing others up for friends, but here I am. Beautiful little machines.
